“If you want to hedge your wine bets, this mixed case is a really great opportunity to take the wine home, experiment over the week and find what you love. I can’t speak more highly of the Giovanni Rosso’s, I categorically say they’re in the ten best producers working out of Piedmont.
“And then all the wines in there, such as the Manzone’s, are absolutely cracking. They’ve got reviews from every top critic, and I’ll tell you what – they’re all pretty cellar-worthy too.” - Karel, Mofo Wine Buyer
Each case contains one bottle of each of the following:
“I can’t believe we have a wine of this quality and pedigree here. Jancis Robinson is raving about it, you’ve got other wine critics in Australia just raving about it, and there are layers and layers and layers of complexity.” “It’s your classic tar, your classic roses, but you’ve got some herbs and cherry and it’s just beautiful. All you want to do is drink. And then drink more of it. This is your most special occasion wine, you buy it now and you put it away for twenty years. If you’ve got someone who has just been born, this is the wine you’re putting away for their 21st. I’ve been saving my pennies because we heard about this wine coming a couple of months ago and I’ve been withholding my wine budget for it. Super excited.” - Summa, Broker Team Lead
“Gary Walsh has given it 95 points and he’s also said that this is one of his top 10 producers out of Piedmont. Tar and roses. Two really interesting things that you may not expect out of a wine but what you get is the prettiness and the femininity and the floral notes of the roses, but also that firmness of the tar. It has beautiful acidity, a bit liquoricey and a bit redcurranty, there’s even some Earl Grey tea going on if I am to be so wine-wankery. It will age forever and keep rewarding those that can wait that long.” - Grant, Mofo Wine Broker
Like Biggie Smalls in his golden years (RIP Big Poppa), this Barolo is both notorious and B.I.G. Oh, and juicy. So, so juicy. Packed with blackberry, walnut and chocolate, this Italian great has been crafted by the Manzone family legends at their gangster paradise (AKA a prime piece of Piedmont real estate). With 94 points of bling on its label, they see me BaROLLIN’, they hatin’.
Barolo and cheese on a Sunday afternoon. Now, that’s how you impress a date. Or your long-term partner. Whichever.
James Suckling pinned it at 95 points and Wine Observer at 94 so we know there’s serious quality here, as would be expected after ageing for 30 months. There’s a warm, fruity taste thanks to a harmonious blend of cherry and raspberry, and it goes down a treat with roasts and cheese to carry you through your whole meal. No regrets mofos, bust this one out on a special occasion – you’ve earned it.
You can’t go wrong with a Barolo that’s gotten love from Wine Spectator, Galloni AND James Suckling. Drink now, or keep this baby for another decade.
