Why do we love this case?

The aptly monikered ‘King of Grapes’ offers limitless delights to all his fans. From robust and powerful drinking in its youth, to rarified elegance in its golden years, there’s something to fall in love with on every stage of the journey. This pack offers you a selection of three uniquely South Australian cabernets to drink whenever you like, with a backup bottle of each one to safely stow away in  the cellar!

Every case contains two of each of the following:

Red
Cabernet Sauvignon
McLaren Vale

Fox Creek Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
Blackcurrant
Dark Chocolate
Nutty
Full-bodied
Velvety
Rich
Spain Catavinum WWSC 2018
James Halliday
5 star Halliday rated winery

Fox Creek are really knocking it out of the park lately, and seem to have pulled back on oak flavour, much to their wines’ merit. Because of this, you get a showcase of blackberries, roasted nuts and dark chocolate, while the soft, textural tannin enhances the wine’s richness and length, giving a soft and juicy yet structured finish.

Hollick The Bard Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
Blackcurrant
Cedar
Spice
Medium-bodied
Bright
Deep

If you love Coonawarra cabernet but want something that does all the things except rip your teeth out when it’s young, Hollick have the answer. The Bard is named for a poet who used to live on the property, and he’d no doubt wax lyrical about such approachable cabernet goodness if he was around today. All the blackberries, currants and classic leafiness of the region, without the wall of tannin. Decant it if you like, or just get stuck in. No need to wait.

Ah yes, here we are again - the cabernet end of Barossa Town. It’s a nice place. Let’s start off with imagining some bush pepper, rich beef jus and blueberry compote. Now pop in a stick of vanilla and a succulent raspberry lolly or two. We’re getting closer. Imagine a palate that’s full of fruit, fine cocoa but also a juicy acidity that pulls it back from being too rich. Now we’re here. Welcome. Kym Teusner is one of the great grape whisperers of the Barossa Valley. A legendary vigneron, shiraz fiend and all-round nice guy. He’s also the maker of our ‘Art of War’ Barossa shiraz 2017, and one of our absolute favourite Barossa winemakers. You’re in very safe hands with this cabernet, then.
